Sandu is one of the many ancients that lives in the monastery known as the Retreat in the Veil of Mists. After Gabrielle, Trixie, and Teagan showed them the general area to look, he, Dragomir, Isai, Petru, Benedek, Ferro, and Andor set out to find their lifemates, hope filling them once more.

Gary aids Andor as a healer. However, with Andor so gravely wounded, he had to try and retrieve him from the Tree of Life. He did this for several risings, but had to eventually call on the aid of Lorraine, Andor's lifemate. He, Gary, and Ferro bound their souls to Andor and Lorraine to protect Lorraine, as she was still human at the time, as she binds her soul to Andor's.

Sandu was effected by dark forces and nearly turned vampire after Josef tried to teach him to use a tablet, which he called a demon tablet. He was but the first to have this happen. Elisabeta equated the anger to burns on the brain, as it wasn't a natural anger. Sandu had mostly bits of red on the amygdala (region of the brain responsible for emotion) and numerous surface bits on his prefrontal cortex.
Dark Tarot[]
Sandu is contemplating returning to the monastery and his thoughts stray to greeting the dawn. When this happens, a feminine voice enters his mind and the world alights with colors. She revealed that her name was Adalasia and told him that there was danger all around him on the journey before him. Knowing she was his lifemate, he sought her out. However, Sandu found four enemies across from her antique shop. He walked around for a time and ordered some pottery for some of the women at the compound before the shop door opened, her reading over. When he talked to her, she urged him to leave and even said that the revelation that it was her journey with him was an accident, even when Sandu insisted that it was the truth. Adalasia urged Sandu to shuffle the tarot cards, but when he touched them or his hand got near them, they seemed to recognize him. It felt as if thousands of needles were biting into his flesh to find every bone and organ, which perplexed him.
It is revealed that he would have to remember his past for them to go on this journey, so he, Adalasia, and the four brethren he chose as guardians travel around the world, looking for clues to his past. He learns of his parents and his sister, only getting memories of them once the get close to the gate to the underworld. He also learns that Xavier traded a child to Lilith, queen of demons, for the parasites. On the journey, he travels to the shadow realm and is thrust into the Cave of Fire. He hears a male voice on the other side of a gate, chanting the Brotherhood oath with him. He also hears a woman command him to leave. The demon or, rather, Carpathian behind the gate is the legendary Justice and the woman was Gaia, sister to Tiberiu and missing since she was ten. Though he could not free either from the other world as he wished, he did learn that Liona, his sister, lived. He and Adalasia chose to stay near his sister in Italy.
