Mitro was a famous Daratrazanoff warrior who spurned his lifemate, Arabejila, and turned vampire. He spent centuries trapped in a volcano with the legendary hunter Dax, adapting to the conditions and becoming the most dangerous and powerful vampire discovered so far.
As a Carpathian, Mitro enjoyed torturing those he hunted. He also believed that the prince wanted to tame the Carpathians, and that the women stole their inherent natures, destroying the men they were. He also tortured animals for the fun of it. As a vampire, he forced himself on women as their men watched, and enjoyed the pain he caused. In the legends of the Cloud People and the Incas, Mitro was the monster that destroyed their strongest warriors, enjoying the terror he instilled in those who watched him.
Using his abilities, he used Raul to attempt to kill Annabel and had Capa succeed, believing she was Arabejila. Later, he attacked Riley for the same reason, but this would ultimately bring his downfall at the hands of Dax. To escape death, he stole the heart of the Old One so that he could live, knowing that if his own heart were destroyed, the dragon's heart would keep him alive. It is suggested in Dark Storm that he was the oldest vampire in existence, but this has yet to be confirmed.
