Aubrey's grandparents were Carpathian warriors, members of the powerful Dark Blood lineage. They were killed by a Sange rau and their daughter Catalina was discovered in the aftermath by Lycans who assumed she was one of them and raised her as such. Catalina married a Lycan named Hemming and their daughter was Aubrey. Since Catalina was originally Carpathian and shared blood with her Lycan husband, she eventually became mixed blood (Hän ku pesäk kaikak) and was murdered by their pack. Hemming took Aubrey and fled to a different pack. Aubrey later died giving birth to Zev.
